Some previous rumors were suggesting that the “recall” feature will be released for WhatsApp STABLE application sometime in the near future. However, until now, the company has not even released it for WhatsApp BETA, which disappointed many users.
However, we have some good news, as the “recall” feature has been recently spotted on the WhatsApp BETA version for Windows Phone. This clearly means that the feature is about to be launched soon on the WhatsApp BETA version for Android and iOS.
According to WABetaInfo, the new feature has been spotted on the WhatsApp BETA version 2.17.218 for Windows Phone. It seems that the recall feature is actually disabled by default on the WhatsApp BETA version for Windows Phone, but it will most likely be enabled in the next major update, which is expected to be released sometime soon.
In order to delete a message or a file, you will just need to long-press it and you will notice that a new function will appear that allows you to delete the message/file. Unfortunately, if the receiver has already seen the message or downloaded the file, you will no longer be able to delete it. The same thing happens if you don’t take action within 5 minutes after you send the message/file.
In other words, you will be able to delete a message/file before 5 minutes after sending it or before the receiver reads/downloads it. For now, the WhatsApp users are able to delete the sent message only from their devices. Unfortunately, after deleting the message/file from your WhatsApp application, the message/file will still remain available on the recipient’s device.
More new features and options are expected to be released for the WhatsApp application sometime soon. Hopefully, the developers will finally enable the new “recall” feature to the WhatsApp application on Android and iOS too.
